Preparation

The Preparation Course is not so much a formal programme of training, as an opportunity to hear about some of the common issues faced by advocates in their partnerships, together with some advice on how to proceed should you encounter certain barriers in supporting your partner.

Perhaps more importantly, the Preparation Course provides an ideal opportunity to meet your fellow advocates, introduce yourself and exchange ideas on how best to approach various advocacy situations.

The sessions are intended to be fun and very participative and we often receive positive feedback to that effect; individual advocates reporting that they met some nice people, learned some new information, gained valuable insights and, overall, felt a lot more confident about being an advocate and supporting their partner effectively.

Sessions comprise a mixture of engaging guest speakers, individual and group exercises and some taught material delivered by the project workers.
